New Storm Beads - Part 3

My Storm series continues over the next 2 blog posts. I enjoy creating these beads as each combination of silver glasses can surprise me when they emerge from the kiln the following morning.

Set 1

For this set of 9 Storm beads, I used Italian medium blue transparent as the base glass. Layers of ivory glass and several layers of Double Helix silver infused glasses were carefully added.

Each bead was encased in clear glass domes and dotted each bead with more silver infused glass and reduced it to a metallic shine. 
Ten spacers of medium blue transparent are included in this set.

Set 2
For this set of 6 Storm beads, I used Italian #443 glass named Spanish Leather as the base glass. Layers of ivory glass and several layers of Double Helix silver infused glasses were carefully added.

Each bead was encased in clear glass domes and dotted each bead with more silver infused glass and reduced it to a metallic shine.

Four spacers of the red base glass are included in this set.

Silver Storm Beads - Teals and Purples!

For this set of silver storm beads, I used CiM - Creation Is Messy Fjord Milky, a bluish teal milky opal as the base glass. 

After adding a layers of ivory, CiM rare Black Currant and Double Helix KA 357 silver infused glasses, each bead was encased in clear glass domes.

Dots of Double Helix Elpis were carefully added and reduced it to a metallic shine. 

The multi-colour portals shine with hues of rich purples and blues.

Moss Green Silver Storm Beads

For this set of silver storm beads, I used CiM - Creation Is Messy Arctic Misty as a base glass. This glass is an unusual one. pale misty blue in rod form; once worked and annealed it turns a mossy green.

After adding a layers of ivory, CiM rare Black Currant and Double Helix Olympia Rain silver infused glasses, each bead was encased in clear glass domes.

Dots of Double Helix Triton were carefully added and reduced it to a metallic shine. 

The multi-colour portals shine with hues of greens, yellows and cream.

Silver Glass Reactions - Magic Of The Goddess Bead - Part 4

You may have noticed by now that I enjoy making those "bumpy beads" that I have named as a Goddess series.

I still have more sets of Goddess beads to share with you today.

This set started on a base of CiM's 2023 Aubergine Milky, a purple milky opal.

 

 

Layers of Effetre Light Ivory, CiM Black Currant, Double Helix BE-462 Purple Luster were placed and captured under clear portals of Double Helix Zephyr.

 

 
To complete each bead, dots of silver infused purple luster was added and reduced to a metallic shine. 

The Aubergine base glass did fume a golden sheen from the reduction of the silver glass.

 

 

 

This set started on a base of another color for 2023 - CiM - Creation Is Messy’s Niagara Misty, a transparent blue aqua.

 

 

 

Layers of Effetre Light Ivory, Double Helix Oracle Black, 2016 Garage Sale glass coded as Sk.j.

 

 

The silver glass was stormed and reduced and captured under clear portals of Double Helix Zephyr.

 

To complete each bead, dots of silver infused Aurae Light was added and reduced to a metallic shine.

The base glass did fume with the silver glass reduction making the Niagara Misty a bit darker in tone from the original rod.

 

This set started on a base of popular CiM Heather, a cloudy transparent pinkish purple.

 

Layers of Effetre Light Ivory, CiM Hades black, 2016 Garage Sale glass coded as CL/OD.e.

 

The silver glass was stormed and reduced and captured under clear portals of Double Helix Zephyr.

 

To complete each bead, dots of silver infused CL/OD.e was added and reduced to a metallic shine.

 

The spacers are pure Heather. 

 

 

You will notice that each goddess bead base glass has a golden tone in comparison to the spacers. 

This is due to the fuming of the silver glass reduction.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2023 New Color - Aubergine Milky Ltd Run

Today's weather forecast is calling for snow. 

I am hoping this storm passes north of us as we have more than enough white stuff on the ground now.

As March in New Brunswick came in as a lamb I am expecting this week to be a storming lion as the month ends and turns to April spring weather.

Sharing today, these Goddess beads were created using Aubergine Milky Ltd Run as the base glass.Layered dots of CiM’s Birchwood and Black Currant were added. 

Various Double Helix silver glasses including Eros, Olympia Rain, Notos, KA-357 and 2016 Garage Sale glass coded ch.a were also used to create the stormed portals captured under Zephyr encasements. 

Dots of Double Helix OX 376 complete each bead.  You will notice that the silver glass after being reduced to a shine has also fumed the Aubergine Milky to a darker tone with a golden sheen.

The spacer at each end shows the true color of the base glass of Aubergine Milky.

By using various glass combinations, it provides more variety in the beads within this set.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2023 New Color - Charisma Ltd Run

CiM - Creation is Messy's new purple for 2023 is called Charisma Ltd Run. It is a transparent lavender purple similar to a previous CiM purple named Jacaranda Ltd Run.

I created a focal bead with a core of Charisma with a sprinkling of Lumiere Luster's Shangri-la luster flakes. Click here for more information about this product.

 

The beads was then encased in Double Helix Zephyr clear and shaped into a slim flat nugget bead. The 2 spacers are pure Charisma for comparison.

 

 
The next set of beads using Charisma has round and cube shapes with a focal cube with layers of rare CiM Black Currant Ltd Run, Double Helix silver infused KA-357, Triton and Zephyr.  

 

 

There are a number of encased "poked" bubbles as the layers were added.

 

Although Jacaranda is listed as sold out on the CiM - Creation Is Messy website, I have confirmed that it is available from Nortel (at the time of this post).

Sharing Favorite Bead Styles - Goddess Portal Beads

One of my favourite style of beads to make is what I have named my Goddess Beads. 

Way back starting in 2010, I had a series of beads with unique combinations of glasses within the style of these “bumpy” portal beads. 

Each set was a unique combination of glasses with silver glass portals captured under clear bubbles each named after a Goddess name.

I have recently revisited this style again out of the sheer pleasure of creating them.
This post highlights 2 new sets created recently.

This first set started on a base of CiM - Creation Is Messy’s Limelight, a light transparent green that is beautifully fresh green tone.

Layers of CiM’s Ra, a rare creamy opaque yellow laden with silver, and Eden, a dense transparent pine green with aventurine, were placed and capped with Double Helix silver glass named Chloe. 

The silver glass was stormed and reduced and captured under clear portals of Double Helix Zephyr.

The Chloe silver glass is a speckled silver glass that when reduced brings out various speckled mother of pearl reactions in shades of yellows, blues, pinks and purples.

To complete each bead, dots of silver infused OX-376 was added and reduced to a metallic shine.

Below, is a set of 3 Goddess beads started with a base of CiM’s Maroon, a dense maroon red.

I have created several other sets of beads with this glass and they are highlights on CiM’s website. This glass loves silver so it was a natural to try it out with the Goddess style.

Starting on a base of this glass, I layered dots of CiM’s Painted Hill, an opaque yellow, and CiM’s rare Black Currant, a very dark transparent purple that appears almost black . 

For silver glass, I used some rare TAG Golden Emerald from my archive stash. It is a great glass to storm and create various hues from blues to pinks. 

Unfortunately, Trautman Art Glass (TAG) appears to no longer be in business, so I will cherish and hoard my stash as a result.

Clear portal dots of Effetre clear were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Dots of Double Helix Hyperion complete each bead with hues of purples and blues.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Atoll Misty Ltd Run

Creation Is Messy’s 2022 Atoll Misty Ltd Run is a green misty opal leaning to the blue side of the spectrum. It is a very pretty color that speaks to spring at the seaside.

I had previously tested CiM’s Cafe Au Lait Ltd Run for its friendliness to other silver glasses, so it was fitting to try it again in another combination for my Goddess beads to test how Atoll Misty would behave with layered portals.

Starting on a base of this glass, I layered dots of CiM Cafe Au Lait, CiM’s extremely dark purple called Black Currant Ltd Run and Trautman's silver glass named Golden Emerald experimental.

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass producing streams of purples, ambers and greens.

CiM's green glass stayed true to its original tone and melted beautifully and stayed stiff enough to maintain the layering without drifting or shifting.

Dots of Double Helix Aurae complete each bead.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Inca Rose Ltd Run Part 2

As I noted in a previous post, CiM’s new Inca Rose Ltd Run is another new cloudy transparent pink for 2022.

It is a lovely color that I definitely will want to order more. Even though it can be shock, pre-warming it solved any issues with this glass.

With Inca Rose as the base for each Goddess bead, I used layered dots of CiM’s new Cafe Au Lait Ltd Run, CiM's rare Black Currant between the silver glass layers.

 

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Each portal turned into reduced storms of purples and pinks as a result of the reaction between the two silver laden glasses. The base glass of Inca Rose stayed true and kept its pinky peach hue.

Dots of DH Kalypso complete each bead.

As an extra test, I created a flat back focal bead with layered swirls of CiM Peace, DH Kalypso with an encasement of Zephyr. 

Inca Rose stayed true and really is such a lovely glass color.
