Necklace bead sets

This post highlights some necklace beads that display a few more new CiM - Creation is Messy colors for 2016.

This watery blue themed set uses CiM’s Jet Stream Ltd Run as a base with silver infused Double Helix glass named Kronos. It was swirled and encased with Effete Superclear. Bubbles were created by implosion dots sealed with clear glass. The spacer beads are made of CiM's Jet Stream and Slate blue transparent.

This photo switches out the focal bead and adds a round barrel bead with a base of CiM Jet Stream Ltd Run with sprinting of Double Helix Gaia frit that was reduced and encased with Effetre Superclear.

The final set features CiM’s Limelight Ltd Run. The focal bead was sprinkled with Val Cox Rio Nights frit melted into the surface. The spacer beads are simply the lovely lime transparent glass.

Two sets for today to share

The two sets to share today are both fritted beads using basic but different techniques that I normally make.

First up, a twisted frit design on round beads. Starting with a base of CiM - Creation is Messy Tutu Ltd Run - a pinky pink transparent.
Val Cox Royal Ballet frit was sprinkled and melted in. Swirls were created with a twist of a clear mini stringer and then melted smooth and popped into the kiln.
The raku in the mixture to create the brown and green in some of the swirl results.

Next up, a glass frit encased bead set with primitive flower petals with a bubble centre.
On a base of CiM Limelight Ltd Run, a transparent light green on which Val Cox Rio Nights frit was melted and encased with Effete Superclear. The petals are CiM Alley Cat Ltd Run and CiM French Blue.

Have a great week!

Indian Summer - a study in Autumn colors

A relatively new color in the CiM - Creation Is Messy palette of browns was released early this year.
It is called Indian Summer and I just got a chance to try it out with some other autumn hues.

This set of beads was created with  a mixture of the following glasses:
CiM Indian Summer Limited Run -  a brown transparent
CiM Allspice Limited Run  - an opal brown
CiM Alley Cat Limited Run  - A rare opaque orange.
Effetre Wine Red
Effetre Light Ivory
Effetre Red Roof Tile

Closeups of the long barrel beads, so the detail of the striations created by mixing the glasses together. I really like Indian Summer as it is a rich transparent that strikes into a rich hue and is smooth to swirl and marvers without surface pitting.

The barrel below shows the richness of CiM Indian Summer on the ends. The centre is Effetre Wine Red with swirls of CiM Alley Cat. Notice the striation line down the centre of each Alley Cat line. It creates a feather like look to each stream.
The two spacers at the back are Indian Summer as well.

The photo also notes the CiM Alley Cat striation reaction against CiM Indian Summer.

The remaining beads in this set highlight CiM Allspice with it's mixtures of Effetre Light Ivory swirls. The round bead on the left is a base of Allspice with dots of Effetre Red Roof Tile and Wine Red.
