Rediscovering Effetre Colors - Strawberry Shake

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog where I share my passion for glass beads and jewelry making. 

Today I want to show you a beautiful glass color from Effetre Strawberry Shake 681 available at Nortel in Toronto. 
This is a light and creamy glass with a hint of pink that looks delicious. 

I couldn't find much information about this glass online, so I decided to experiment with it and see what I could create.

I paired it with some of my silver glass from Double Helix: Eros and Aurae Light. I made some thin stringers of these two colors and applied them on the Strawberry Shake base in different designs. 

Then I encased them with clear glass and added some dots of Aurae Light to complete each bead. I reduced the dots to bring out the metallic shine of the silver glass.

The result was amazing! The Strawberry Shake glass blended well with the silver glass and created a lovely contrast of colors and textures. The beads look like yummy desserts with caramel and strawberry swirls. 

I love how they turned out! The spacers are pure Strawberry Shake so you can see the faint lines of pale strawberry "juice".

This is a great example of how you can use an inexpensive and simple glass color like Effetre Strawberry Shake 681 and make it look stunning with some silver glass accents.
This is another overlooked Effetre glass that is economical in price.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2023 New Color - Aubergine Milky Ltd Run

Today's weather forecast is calling for snow. 

I am hoping this storm passes north of us as we have more than enough white stuff on the ground now.

As March in New Brunswick came in as a lamb I am expecting this week to be a storming lion as the month ends and turns to April spring weather.

Sharing today, these Goddess beads were created using Aubergine Milky Ltd Run as the base glass.Layered dots of CiM’s Birchwood and Black Currant were added. 

Various Double Helix silver glasses including Eros, Olympia Rain, Notos, KA-357 and 2016 Garage Sale glass coded ch.a were also used to create the stormed portals captured under Zephyr encasements. 

Dots of Double Helix OX 376 complete each bead.  You will notice that the silver glass after being reduced to a shine has also fumed the Aubergine Milky to a darker tone with a golden sheen.

The spacer at each end shows the true color of the base glass of Aubergine Milky.

By using various glass combinations, it provides more variety in the beads within this set.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2023 New Color - Lychee Misty Ltd Run

I love testing new CiM - Creation Is Messy colors with Double Helix Glassworks variety of glasses. 

In this post, I chose new Lychee Misty Ltd Run to highlight.

Lychee Misty is a misty ivory that was melted in response to requests from beadmakers. I believe this is a successful creation as it melted with the subtle misty feel that seems to glow from within as an opal should do.

These focal beads are great examples of the pairings.
In viewing the photo below, the flat barrel shown below on the left was created on a base of Lychee Misty with bands of Double Helix Garage Sale 2016 glass coded as CL/DK.cc. I am guessing this was a test batch that appears to be related to Clio Dark.
Dots of CiM's silver laden ivory named Birchwood were added to the centre of the barrel and bubbles captured under encasement of Double Helix Zephyr. A touch of gravity shifting to create the layers and allow the heat to bring out wisps of colors of the rainbow within the silver glass.

 

 

The middle focal barrel combined Lychee Misty with layered dots of Birchwood and Double Helix Eros. Lots of poked bubbles to add to the mother of pearl captured under the Zephyr encasement. As the bead needed just a bit more color, I added "shoulder" bands of Eros to create the ruby pink richness to the bead.

 

 
On the right, the final focal barrel is simple in design with similar layering of Birchwood and Eros over the Lychee Misty base. I was pleased to see that each glass stayed true with no seeping/spreading or fuming into each other.

 

The two spacers are simply Lychee Misty for comparison.

In this blog post, I am revisiting CiM - Creation Is Messy’s glass named Glycerin, an off-white milky opal.

This set of zulu shaped beads was created with a base of Glycerin with a sprinkling of Glass Diversions Sugar Plum Fairy glass frit. 

This glass frit mix is described as "Forest green paired with several shades of pink and a hint of sparkliness". I believe it is green adventurine that gives the sparkles which were difficult to properly photograph.

I noticed with Glycerin in this set took on the hue of the pink glasses in the frit.

Next up this mini set of Goddess bumpy beads started with the base of Glycerin Ltd Run.

Layered dots of Double Helix glasses of their gold pink, Eros, and Clio Dark silver glass. 

Clear portal dots of  Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Dots of Double Helix Eros complete each bead.

Note how the silver glass fumed the Glycerin glass with a golden hue.
