New Glass Frits in my Studio - So Excited to Create!

Recently I was able to restock me collection of glass frit. I have been a fan of Glass Diversions frit for many years and was down to the last couple of teaspoons in my stash.

As I am located on the East Coast of Canada, it was most convenient to place my order through Glass Diversions Etsy shop as the purchase included all shipping and fees/taxes etc.

Over the next few posts, I will share my initial sets testing out each of the frit that I purchased. I encourage you to check out Julie’s site as there are many beautiful blends. It was a daunting task to narrow down to the 14 frit blends that I finalized for my order.

This set of handmade lampwork round beads was created on a base of CiM - Creation Is Messy glass named Lumen, an ethereal white moonstone.

Each bead was sprinkled with Glass Diversions Northern Lights glass frit. 

This frit has lots of depth with gorgeous shades of plum, lilac and golds.

Hex Shaped Summer Beads for Period Inspired Jewelry Designs

This set of handmade hex shaped lampwork round beads was created on a base of Italian Effetre glass named Alexandrite, a blue/lavender colour changing glass.

Each bead was sprinkled with Val Cox Moonflower glass frit. 

This frit is an opaque blend of salmon, pink and soft pink tones, primarily opaque with some transparent pinks.

The spacer beads are Effetre Alexandrite showing how the color can shift from purple to blue based on the lighting.

These would be lovely in a summer necklace!

Firecracker Celebration Beads for the Holiday Long Weekend!

Today's post highlights a set of glass frit beads with multi-coloured patterns created using glass frit.

Effetre White opaque is sprinkled with Glass Diversions frit named Firecracker. This blend is a mix of cherry cold red, indigo, pinks with iris orange raku.

Glass frit is a wonderful addition to a bead maker's tool and supply box as it allows beads to be created in unique combinations of colors using mixes of crushed glass blended by hand.

A shoutout to Julie Miller at Glass Diversions! I started using this frit over a decade ago when Robin Koza was the owner. I am running low on my stash, so 2024 will be my restocking year to select a new sampler set.

Blue Sky and Wild Mulberries

This set of handmade lampwork was created on a base of CiM - Creation Is Messy sky blue named Fremen.

Each lentil bead was sprinkled with Glass Diversions Wild Mulberry glass frit. 

This frit has fun shades of blue, pink, mauve, orange & green colors.

The spacer beads are CiM Fremen.

These would be lovely in a summer necklace!

Blooming Bead Set To Start Summer

This set of handmade lampwork round beads was created on a base of Italian Effetre glass named Alexandrite, a blue/lavender colour changing glass.

Each bead was sprinkled with Val Cox Songbird glass frit. 

This frit is an opaque blend of soft spring colors with just a hint of transparent fuchsia.

The spacer beads are Effetre Alexandrite showing how the color can shift from purple to blue based on the lighting.

Silver Storm Beads - Teals and Purples!

For this set of silver storm beads, I used CiM - Creation Is Messy Fjord Milky, a bluish teal milky opal as the base glass. 

After adding a layers of ivory, CiM rare Black Currant and Double Helix KA 357 silver infused glasses, each bead was encased in clear glass domes.

Dots of Double Helix Elpis were carefully added and reduced it to a metallic shine. 

The multi-colour portals shine with hues of rich purples and blues.

Moss Green Silver Storm Beads

For this set of silver storm beads, I used CiM - Creation Is Messy Arctic Misty as a base glass. This glass is an unusual one. pale misty blue in rod form; once worked and annealed it turns a mossy green.

After adding a layers of ivory, CiM rare Black Currant and Double Helix Olympia Rain silver infused glasses, each bead was encased in clear glass domes.

Dots of Double Helix Triton were carefully added and reduced it to a metallic shine. 

The multi-colour portals shine with hues of greens, yellows and cream.

Goddess Bead Series From the Pendragonfyre Past - Renamed Silver Storm Beads

If you have been a follower of the Pendragonfyre Tales blog over the past decade, you are familiar with a series of beads that I named after Goddess Names. Each set was a unique combination of glasses and named with a unique name.

There were well over 150 sets over the years and I ran out of names!

I still love making these beads and when it came to my new Etsy shop, I found it difficult to describe and explain the naming process. Clients suggested I start calling them silver storm beads to capture how the silver glass swirls and shines from different perspectives in each bead raised portal.

So this is the first of the posts of Pendragonfyre Silver Storm Beads. As always, I will share the glass combinations with my followers!

For this set of focal storm beads, I used Italian Effetre New Violet opaque glass as the base glass. 

After adding a layers of ivory, cobalt transparent and Double Helix Olympia Rain silver infused glasses, each bead was encased in clear glass domes.

Dots of Aurae silver glass were carefully added and reduced it to a metallic shine. 

The multi-colour portals shine with hues of blues, yellows and cream.

Four spacer beads of Effetre New Violet are included in this set.

Patriotic Celebration Beads!

These 4 focal beads are made of a base of CiM - Creation is Messy Cinnamon Jelly red glass.

Double Helix Clio silver infused glass was layered and wrapped with 99% fine silver wire. 

The silver glass bloomed to beautiful blues shine. 

Each focal bead was encased in a layer of clear glass to further magnify the bead’s core. 

CiM - Creation Is Messy & Double Helix glasses are available from Nortel Glass in Toronto. 

Cinnamon Jelly is rare and showing sold out on the CiM website, but I believe Nortel may have it as part of their red bundle offer.
