CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Fjord Misty Ltd Run

CiM’s Fjord Misty Ltd Run is described as a bluish teal misty opal a relative to rare CiM’s Aegean transparent teal that has been sold out on the CiM website for a while.

I looked through my Creation Is Messy stash and noticed that CiM Atlantis Ltd Run, an opal seemed to match Fjord quite well.

Note: I did check the Nortel Glass site and both Aegean and Atlantis appear to still be available, so definitely contact Jean or Jennifer to purchase.

I have used Atlantis in the past and did find that depending on how long it was worked in the flame, it would opacify and vary in its translucency. Here is my past blog post on Atlantis back in Sept 2011.

To see how these 2 glasses compare, I created the following beads with mixtures of the two.

If you look closely at the spacer beads, you will see the comparison of the two Fjord spacers in the middle between the Atlantis spacer beads.

Each tapered barrel bead has one end of Fjord and other is Atlantis. It is on these beads were I see a very slight greenish hue on the Fjord where the DH Notos silver glass fumed a golden cast.

The round beads are solid Fjord with silver glass streams and dots.

The rich teal hues just call to me to pair with Double Helix silver glass.

These beads show the potential to use DH Notos, a silver saturated super-luster with a subtle blue-grey-green tone for raised decoration.
The tapered barrel beads are

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Pond Slime Misty Ltd Run

CiM's 2022 color palette included many Milky/Misty offerings.

Pond Slime is lime green opal with these two options. In this post, I used Pond Slime Misty Ltd Run.

Both versions of this color melted beautifully and in this bead set, my test was to see how it would pair to my own hand blended frit named Love Sonnet which included raku and rare purple rose.

Starting on a base of CiM's new Pond Slime Misty Ltd Run Pendragonfyre frit was sprinkled to create these romantic beads.

The spacer beads are included in this set show that the color of the green glass stayed true under the frit with no reaction.

Perfect for the spring and summer season!

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Douglas Aster Ltd Run

CiM’s new Douglas Aster Ltd Run is pretty pastel purple. It melts beautifully and smoothly with no issues.

As a base for my Goddess style beads, I wanted to see if the base purple hue would fume when paired with Double Helix silver glass. As I expected it did.

Layered dots of CiM’s new Cafe Au Lait Ltd Run which has some silver content and a Double Helix test silver glass named KA357

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Each portal turned into reduced storms of purples and pinks as a result of the reaction between the two silver laden glasses. The base glass of Douglas Aster fumed to a golden ivory losing the purple pastel.

Dots of DH Hyperion complete each bead.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Glycerin Milky Ltd Run

Creation Is Messy’s 2022 Glycerin Milky Ltd Run is an off-white milky opal that bead testers describe as a moonstone. It is a clean white in my opinion and it melted smoothly with no issues.

I love to pair a neutral hue with a dark blue and silver, so I thought it would be perfect to use a glass frit by Val Cox called Starry Night and some 99% fine silver wire.

Starry Night frit is a fantastic navy blue with an aventurine sparkle.
After a sprinkling and a melting in, I wrapped each round bead with fine silver wire to complete the bead.
Note the centre bead made of Glycerin with a wrap of silver wire is clean with no fuming from the fine silver.

There was no reaction between Glycerin and the silver and the brightness of the white remained true.

Starry Night glass frit is available through Nortel Glass in Toronto as I do not see it on Val's site currently.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Atoll Misty Ltd Run

Creation Is Messy’s 2022 Atoll Misty Ltd Run is a green misty opal leaning to the blue side of the spectrum. It is a very pretty color that speaks to spring at the seaside.

I had previously tested CiM’s Cafe Au Lait Ltd Run for its friendliness to other silver glasses, so it was fitting to try it again in another combination for my Goddess beads to test how Atoll Misty would behave with layered portals.

Starting on a base of this glass, I layered dots of CiM Cafe Au Lait, CiM’s extremely dark purple called Black Currant Ltd Run and Trautman's silver glass named Golden Emerald experimental.

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass producing streams of purples, ambers and greens.

CiM's green glass stayed true to its original tone and melted beautifully and stayed stiff enough to maintain the layering without drifting or shifting.

Dots of Double Helix Aurae complete each bead.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Pond Slime Milky Ltd Run - Part 1

Creation Is Messy's Pond Slime Milky Ltd Run is a new 2022 CiM - Creation Is Messy is a lime green milky opal.

Each bead was sprinkled with Double Helix's Aurae silver glass frit.

The glass color stayed true under the frit as seen in comparison to the Pond Slime Milky spacers.

I had no issues with melting this glass. It flowed easily and smoothly with no bubbles or shocking.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Buttercup Ltd Run Part 2

CiM’s new bright transparent yellow named Buttercup Ltd Run was based on a request from glass artists for an alternate transparent yellow.

I made a set of beads previously with Buttercup as a base - check out that post here.
Buttercup is a lovely color that instantly called me to think of the Ukraine and the heartbreak of that country's recent events.

As I paired it with swirls of Double Helix's rare blue Kronos silver glass and a wrap of 99% fine silver wire. Each bead was encased in Zephyr to capture the glittery goodness.

This test resulted in 2 lovely hearts and a coordinating round bead.
My hearts and prayers goes out to the Ukraine.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Inca Rose Ltd Run Part 2

As I noted in a previous post, CiM’s new Inca Rose Ltd Run is another new cloudy transparent pink for 2022.
It is a lovely color that I definitely will want to order more. Even though it can be shock, pre-warming it solved any issues with this glass.

With Inca Rose as the base for each Goddess bead, I used layered dots of CiM’s new Cafe Au Lait Ltd Run, CiM's rare Black Currant between the silver glass layers.

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Each portal turned into reduced storms of purples and pinks as a result of the reaction between the two silver laden glasses. The base glass of Inca Rose stayed true and kept its pinky peach hue.

Dots of DH Kalypso complete each bead.

As an extra test, I created a flat back focal bead with layered swirls of CiM Peace, DH Kalypso with an encasement of Zephyr.
Inca Rose stayed true and really is such a lovely glass color.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Inca Rose Ltd Run

CiM’s new Inca Rose Ltd Run is another new cloudy transparent pink for 2022.
It appears to be just a shade darker than CiM's Ballet Slipper.
Cloudy transparent are prone to stockiness so pre-warming is recommended.

As a base for my Goddess style beads, this glass melted smoothly as each bead starts with a small base in each bead.

Layered dots of CiM’s new Cafe Au Lait Ltd Run which has some silver content and Double Helix Kalypso silver glass. I played with layering on these beads and ended up with a bit of change in each bead.
One of the beads has a layer of rare CiM's Black Currant between the silver glass layers.
Two of the beads has a layer of CiM's Gypsy between the silver glass layers.
The bead on the right below was just layered with Cafe Au Lait and Kalypso and produced more pink as a result.

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Each portal turned into reduced storms of purples and pinks as a result of the reaction between the two silver laden glasses. The base glass of Inca Rose stayed true and kept it's pinky peach hue.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Menthe Ltd Run

Creation Is Messy’s 2022 Menthe Ltd Run is a bluish green moonstone . I have always loved CiM’s Peacock Green and I am equally in love with this blueish version.

I had previously tested CiM’s Birchwood Ltd Run for its friendliness to other silver glasses, so it was fitting to create my Goddess beads to test how Menthe would behave with layered portals.

Starting on a base of this glass, I layered dots of CiM Birchwood, CiM’s extremely dark purple called Gypsy and rare Double Helix Echo silver glass.

Clear portal dots of  Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass producing streams of purples, ambers and pinks.
CiM's Menthe stayed true to it's original tone and melted beautifully and stayed stiff enough to maintain the layering without drifting or shifting.

Dots of CiM Birchwood complete each bead giving a more rustic feel than when I use reduced silver glass dots.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Colors- Saddle Leather and Birchwood Ltd Runs

In today's glass testing post, I decided to make some hand-blown glass shards of CiM’s new Saddle Leather Ltd Run, an opaque brown, with silvered ivory. The glass melted like butter with no shockiness.

I created this bead set pairing the shards and dots of silvered ivory Saddle Leather with CiM’s Birchwood Ltd Run
I like the colors that it produced with the silvered ivory.

This focal bead below was created with a combination of CiM opaque glasses.

The base of the bead has Saddle Leather as the ends of the tapered barrel with a centre stripe of another CiM opaque.
I pulled a rod of CiM’s Painted Hills Ltd Run, an opaque yellow, from my stash and made a stripe across the middle to brighten the whole bead.
The surface rivet decorations are made with a reduced Double Helix test silver glass known as OX 376.
OX-376 a yellow-green tourmaline, jewel super luster that was first introduced in 2010. I love my silver glass stash!

It will be fun to experiment more with these new opaque once the glass arrives at my supplier, Nortel based in Toronto.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Aquamarine Ice Ltd Run

Creation Is Messy’s 2022 Aquamarine Ice Misty Ltd Run is a misty version of the opal blue glass as they expand their offerings of misty and milky palettes.

I wanted to experiment to see if it’s color would be maintained through multiple heating and cooling cycles as I created my goddess style beads.

Starting on a base of this glass, I layered dots of Effetre Light Ivory, rare CiM’s Trade Winds Ltd Run and Double Helix rare Ekho silver glass.

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Dots of DH Aurae Light complete each bead. As you can notice, the base of Aquamarine Ice Misty does darken to a more green color. I like the color as it blends well with the mini storms in each bead portal.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Osage Wood Ltd Run

This set of round beads were created on a base of CiM's new Osage Wood Ltd Run, apricot orange cloudy transparent.

When streams of Double Helix's Hyperion silver glass were drawn and reduced, the glass was fumed to a golden sheen, deepening the apricot orange and the shine was brought to the surface.

The spacer beads are solid Osage Wood for comparison.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Goji Ltd Run

CiM - Creation Is Messy’s new dense bright orangish red for 2022 named Goji was based on a request from glass artists for a more orange based red.
I expected that this glass would maintain it’s color through multiple heating and cooling cycles as I created my goddess style beads.
This bead set was created using Goji Ltd Run as the base glass.

Layered dots of CiM’s new Cafe Au Lait which has some silver content and rare Double Helix Kronos silver glass.

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Each portal turned a beautiful blue as a result of the reaction between the two silver laden glasses. As the Goji glass was heated and cooled, the silver glass deepened to a darker orange-red hue.

Dots of DH Aurae Light complete each bead.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2022 Color - Ballet Slipper Ltd Run

Ballet Slipper Ltd Run is a cloudy pale transparent pink in CiM - Creation is Messy’s 2022 offerings of limited runs.
Some testers had noted some stockiness so I followed their recommendation to pre-heat the rod of glass. It is such a beautiful glass, I didn’t want to waste a bit.
It melted beautifully and is definitely a lovely color.

As it was pale, I decided to to use it as a canvas backdrop to a beautiful Val Cox frit named Sadie Hawkins that recently purchased at Nortel.
Nortel is very good at having many of Val's glass frits stocked when they are not available elsewhere.

This little set was made with bits of Ballet Slipper and Pizzazz at the end of my day of testing. I again used a sprinkle of Val Cox Sadie Hawkins glass frit and a wrap of 99% fine silver wire before shaping the bead into a tapered barrel.
I did notice there is a bit of reaction to the fine silver, but I am unable to confirm if it is because of the base glass or the frit itself.

Til next time,
D.
