CiM - Creation Is Messy 2021 Colors - Heather & Yours Truly Ltd Runs

In 2020 CiM - Creation Is Messy introduced a cloudy transparent named Heather Ltd Run. 

It was extremely well received by the glass community as a unique offering of a pinkish purple.

Glass testers loved the color but found it be a bit temperamental and shocky in the melting process.

The CiM family re-engineered the formula and I am pleased to say in my testing that the new 2021 version of Heather is absolutely lovely to work with.

In the bead set below, I paired 2021 Heather Ltd Run with a new 2021 color called Yours Truly Ltd Run, a lovely transparent purple. I sprinkled Glass Diversions Persian Paisley glass frit on the transparent end of each bead and wrapped 99% fine silver wire around the Heather glass end.

As comparison to CiM's 2020 Heather Ltd Run, I have posted a few views of a set I created last year that seemed to not have been saved to my blog previously.

The barrel bead was created with stripes of CiM Heather and now SOLD OUT CiM's Daydream Ltd Run, A bright blue milky opal that stays translucent. I capped each end with a bit of CiM's Cerulean Ltd Run and wrapped it in 99% fine silver wire. Lots of additional beads were created with each glass to complete the set.

The colors of each glass stayed true with no reaction to the silver and the resulting beads are bright and cheerful for any jewelry design!

Nortel's Bountiful Harvest CiM- Creation Is Messy Glass Sampler Testing

Just a quick post to show a couple of photos of a new set of beads using base glasses from Nortel’s CiM - Creation is Messy glass sampler named Bountiful Harvest.

CiM 2020 New Colors - The Final Few

We are coming to the end of a successful CiM - Creation Is Messy 2020 color testing cycle.

Lots of new types of glasses were developed for 2020 and it was fun experimenting with various application to bring out all the glassy goodness to share with my fellow glass enthusiasts!

The final few rods are limited production and when I received them they had no official names, simply coded with testing batch numbers.

First up, a CiM - Creation Is Messy limited color coded as 11.17.6023. It is referred in my testing notes as a blue cloud transparent. 
The single bead photo shows the glass encasing over a clear glass core. You can see the striations of pigment clearly. 

The set of crystal and round beads are made in the same manner with added Double Helix Notos silver glass decoration. I definitely like using the glass in the diluted encasements rather than a more dense bead solely made from the cloud transparent. This is also a get way to use up all those short ends of clear glass that have been gathering in a bowl on my workstation.

This cheerful set of beads were made combining two of CiM’s 2020 new glasses. 
These are limited rods of test glasses coded as 11.17.60301 (I think now named Chirp) and Watermelon LITE a more diluted version of Watermelon Ltd Run. I decorated them with some of Val Cox Flaming June frit.  

I did not encase the beads in clear this time to see if I still got some micro cracking. There is a bit, so still going to be very wary using anything other than COE 104 for pairing these glasses in future.











This focal bead was my test of the new formulation of CiM Poison Apple that is new for 2020. In the past, this glass would lose its translucency if it was worked too long.  

I paired this with Double Helix silver Melia  and Notos and added shards of Aether. After several shaping and reheating, the bead stayed translucent. Very pleased to report that!

I am almost to the end of all the 2020 CiM - Creation is Messy glass testing. This set of beads is a teal transparent glass with mica suspended within. I created simple round beads and found that when the beads are moved, the mica does appear. 

CiM recently renamed this glass to Scuba Diving. It is quite appropriate as I see the micro bubbles with the final result.

CiM 2020 New Colors - Round 6

The number of new colors for 2020 CiM - Creation is Messy were immense. 
I have loved the opportunity to try out each new color.

This will be Round 6 of testing with an expectation of another couple of blog posts to complete the full review of all the beads I have created.

CiM - Creation Is Messy’s new Rosaline Pink Ltd Run is a pale cloudy pink transparent that was very shocky to melt. Double Helix's Kalypso silver glass was added to create wispy flame like waves within this focal bead with a few copper dragonfly encased in clear Zephyr. The spacers are pure Rosaline Pink.

This heart bead has a base of Rosaline Pink with streams of CiM Peace and Double Helix Kalypso encased in Zephyr clear.

This focal bead has the same combination with the shine of silver glass ruffles on each side.

Within this batch of test glass, Kathy at CiM created 2 colors that included micro pieces of dichro sparkle. They don't have fancy names as they were coded by number.  I wanted to share the photos of the results. Hopefully Kathy will continue to try out these sorts of formulations as I enjoyed trying them out.

The second sparkly glass is in the set below.
A bright misty opal blue, CiM’s Surf's Up Ltd Run is a happy blue like Peacock Feather, it’s translucent sister glass. These barrels combine this opal blue with a limited test glass by CiM that has micro pieces of dichroic glass sparkle within the teal transparent glass ( CiM Poolside with sparkle). A wrap of 99% fine silver wire completes each bead.

This heart uses the same combinations.

CiM’s Shamrock Ltd Run is a perfect pair for Double Helix’s OX459 green silver buster glass. The glass stayed rich and translucent in each of these beads.  A few cooper foil decorations were added to one of the focal beads. The spacers are pure Shamrock Ltd Run.

CiM 2020 New Colors - Round 5

This is now Round 5 of my CiM - Creation is Messy 2020 Testing. Only a few more glass rods to complete the testing over the next couple of weeks.

Each of these tests are posted on Instagram individually so below is the summary post.

In this set of dotted beads, used CiM’s Vintage Rose as the base with CiM Peace white dots. The spacers are pure Vintage Rose.

On a base of CiM’s Swan Ltd Run, layered silver glass dots were added and capped with clear portals. There is a golden yellow shift in Swan rather than staying as a white hue.

CiM - Creation Is Messy’s new Sea Glass Ltd Run is a pale green misty opal that melted smoothly and worked well with Double Helix silver glass to create wispy petals within these Waterlily beads. The spacers are Sea Glass. and CiM Peacock Feathers.

New CiM - Creation is Messy’s Swan Ltd Run decorated with mixed frit. This glass melted smoothly with no issues except that it didn’t stay white for me. Not sure if it was due to having other beads in the kiln with reduced silver glass or if the extended session caused it to turn yellow.

This crystal shaped bead were created on a base of CiM Ballerina with Glass Diversions Himalayan Rose frit. 

New CiM - Creation is Messy’s Goldfish Ltd Run decorated with Lumiere Lusters Picante glitter encased in Zephyr clear.  This glass melted smoothly with no issues.

I was so sad to open the kiln and find a compatibility issue between CiM’s new Pink Lemonade and Val Cox Trickster frit (96 COE). I made the lovely round beads and encased them in a thin layer of clear glass only to get lots of little cracks in the final beads. You may think it was the encasement, but the issue was confirmed when one bead without clear glass split in two pieces. The pink is so pretty, but I will avoid any non 104 COE frit as it was just too much of a difference.

A core of CiM Adriatic Ltd run with layers of clear and silver glass created this bicone focal bead. Spacers are pure Adriatic.

CiM 2020 New Colors - Round 4

Let's dig into Round 4 of my CiM - Creation is Messy 2020 Testing. The new colors and types of glass was plentiful and it has been a pleasure trying new techniques and combinations with each new color.

CiM - Creation Is Messy’s new Sea Glass Ltd Run is a pale green misty opal that melted smoothly and worked well with Double Helix silver glass to create wispy flame like waves within this focal bead. The spacers are pure Sea Glass.

A bright misty opal blue, CiM’s new Goddess Ltd Run is a happy blue like Paradise, it’s translucent sister glass. Simple round beads with Grape Lolly shards from thepurplelilydesigns.

CiM’s Paradise Ltd Run is a perfect pair for Double Helix’s Aurae silver glass frit. The glass stayed rich and translucent. 

In this set of dotted beads, 3 of the new CiM - Creation Is Messy 2020 glasses were combined: Ice Mint, Summer Haze and just a bit of Heather. Each was dotted with Double Helix Oracle Black.  

New CiM - Creation is Messy’s Lemongrass Ltd Run decorated with mixed frit of hot colors. This glass melted smoothly with no issues. Spacers are solid Lemongrass which maintained it’s translucency in each bead

Another experiment with copper foil in these dragonfly beads. Base glass is CiM Peacock Feathers Ltd, an opal blue that stays transculent. Wispy streams of Double Helix OX 459 test glass were reduced and encased to complete these bicone barrel beads. Spacers are solid Peacock Feathers glass.

These crystal shaped beads were created on a base of CiM Witches’ Brew with Quazar shards and silver wire encased in clear glass. The spacers are pure Witches’ Brew. The shards had some reaction to the silver but the result is a rich deep bead set with lots of depth.

New CiM - Creation is Messy’s Persian Green Ltd Run decorated with Val Cox Fleeting Beauty glass frit.  This glass melted smoothly with no issues. Spacers are solid Persian Green which maintained it’s translucency in each bead.


This focal bead is a combination of CiM - Creation Is Messy’s new Sea Glass Ltd Run with a centre stripe of CiM Firedragon.  Layers of clear and Double Helix silver glass was added and encased to create the rich magenta pink. The spacers are pure Sea Glass.

CiM’s Watermelon is an interesting “cloud power” glass that is new from CiM. The rod that I was given to test had quite a few bubbles making it a bit shocky so prewarming it in the kiln was necessary to conserve the glass.
This set of beads used CiM Unicorn as a base with Watermelon encasement and CIM original Poison Apple ends. Note this is the older formula of Poison Apple that turns opaque after annealing. I am looking forward to re-testing this same style of bead with the reformulated Poison Apple released this spring to see it as a translucent. Dots of Double Helix Oracle Black created clean dots on each bead. Spacers are solid Watermelon and Poison Apple.

A core of CiM Firedragon Ltd run with layers of clear, silver glass and 99% fine silver wire created this flat focal bead. A crystal shape with similar layering was was decorated with Oracle Black dots.
