February Flashback - Digging into the CiM - Creation Is Messy Archives - Part 1

Over the next couple of weeks, I am digging into the CiM Archives to flashback on sets of beads made with colors that are listed as Sold Out on the CiM website, but I have checked availability of these glasses as In Stock on Nortel Glass' online shopping cart.

I am a bit of a "spreadsheet nerd", so I created a chart to cross reference what rare colors are still readily available from Jean & Jennifer at Nortel.
Why a chart?

I see so many "destash" groups on Facebook lately where our glassy colleagues are auctioning off larger quantities glass and in many cases the prices being paid are higher than simply purchasing the same glass from one our favourite distributors.

Nortel works so closely with our various glass creators that I really prefer to support them in order to keep our glass industry going!

In this first post, we are looking at glass pairings of CiM - Creation Is Messy with Double Helix silver glasses.
Each of these bead sets were featured in previous blog posts, so enjoy this stroll down memory lane.

This gleaming set is a base of one of my favorite glasses, CiM's Pink Champagne. In natural light, it is a rich pink. In other lighting, it can cast hues of a pinky purple.
In any light, it is simply gorgeous!

Shards and dots of Double Helix Aurae decorate these beads. Lots of variety in the shapes to allow for lots of art glass design options.

This gleaming set was created with a base of CiM's Sepia, a rich light brown amber.
Shards, swirls and dots of Double Helix Aurae decorate these beads. Lots of variety in the shapes to allow for lots of art glass design options.

This abundant 20 bead set was created with a new released color named Oz.
This rich green base by CiM is a true emerald green.

Hand pulled stringers of Double Helix Triton create the hand drawn scrollwork on each bead. The Triton was reduced to a glittery goodness of gold and silver blue.

This set of 9 goddess series beads were created on a base of CiM's emerald transparent glass, Oz, with layered dots of Effetre Dark Ivory and a mixture of silver glasses.

Double Helix's Kronos and Olympia Rain silver glasses creates the multicolored portals captured under each drop of clear glass.
Oz green transparent spacers (4) are included in this set.

In checking CiM's site just before posting this blog, I do see this glass is readily available and it is one of my favorites with silver glass. It is a fresh spring green that we need in the dead of winter!

On a base of CiM's Appletini, dots, scrolls and streams of Double Helix golden Aurae silver infused glass, decorate each round bead.

This glittering set of 10 beads was created with a base of CiM's Appletini transparent green glass on which hand drawn streams of Double Helix Aurae were added and reduced.
Each bead was then reduced to bring out the glorious metallic bling!

Glittery Goodness - CiM - Creation Is Messy Cleopatra

Just a quick post to share... It has been a very cold February after such a mild start of 2023.

This set of sparkle beads was created on a base of CiM - Creation Is Messy’s Cleopatra Ltd Run, dense and saturated transparent purple.
This is another glass that is so dark, it appears black in most applications as a base glass.

Each bead was generously sprinkled with Double Helix Helios glass frit and reduced to sparkly goodness.

Revisiting CiM - Creation is Messy - Ceylon Ltd Run

Starting on a base of CiM - Creation Is Messy's Ceylon Ltd Run glass, I layered dots of CiM's Birchwood Ltd Run, a creamy opaque ivory with silver, Double Helix Chloe silver infused glass and capped with Effetre clear glass.

Dots of Double Helix OX-459 completed each bead.

There are spacers of Ceylon to show the glass a a transparent neutral brown.

I also used CiM’s Ceylon as a base for two focal beads combining with Lumiere Luster’s Strawberry Rhubarb flakes.

"Strawberry Rhubarb" is a gorgeous color shifting flake that is a bright deep peachy-pinks that shift to bright greens to deep greens and yellow depending on the angle it is viewed.

The barrel bead with the frilled edge combined the Ceylon and cluster along with Double Helix Aether and Effetre clear glass. Highlights of Double Helix OX-459 was reduced to a shiny glow.

The flat barrel bead was created with the same glass and cluster with the addition of Double Helix Chloe ends.

Revisiting CiM - Creation is Messy - Gypsy Ltd Run

CiM - Creation is Messy’s glass named Gypsy is an extremely dark transparent purple. It is so dark that it really looks black at times.

I was experimenting with this glass in layering it with silver glass previously. Check out this post here.

In this set of beads, Gypsy was the base on which multiple Double Helix silver infused glasses were used.

Double Helix’s Keto was streamed with a sprinkling of Triton.

The barrels and rounds were encased in Effetre clear and surface decorated with Triton to complete each bead.

This set provides a variety of shapes for the jewelry designer.

For these two focal beads, I used Gypsy and Effetre Clear as bases for the beads. Lumiere Luster named Agua Verde was sprinkled, swirled and encased under a layer of clear.

"Agua Verde" is a gorgeous color shifting flake that shifts from deep greens, to aqua, to deep blue depending on the angle it is viewed.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2021 Color- Sea Anemone and Ice Grape Ltd Run

As CiM - Creation Is Messy expanded their line of streamer glass this year, testers were provided a sample rods of both the streamer and the base glass used in its production.
The bead set below showcases the differences in the two rods.

Two hollow beads of were created with Sea Anemone Ltd Run streamer. Note the streams of CiM colors:  Sunflower, Pimento, Iguana and Peace over a base glass of Ice Grape Ltd Run.

Two clear hollows of Ice Grape are included as well for comparison.

One additional hollow bead was created from Sea Anemone with end caps of
Double Helix Aurae Light.

My understanding is that only some distributors may have limited stock of these new colors including Ice Grape Ltd Run (available in North America only).
Definitely check with your favorite glass supplier for availability and order them before they are gone!

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2021 Color- Portal Ltd Run

Portal Ltd Run is a new 2021 CiM - Creation Is Messy opal white that is the misty sister to Gossamer Ltd Run. Click here to see my Gossamer beads from last week.

This bead set was created using Portal Ltd Run as the base glass.

Layered dots of SOLD OUT CiM Prussian Blue Ltd Run, a deep opaque blue laden with silver, and rare Double Helix Olympia Rain.

Clear portal dots of Double Helix Zephyr were added to capture the stormed reaction of the silver glass.

Each portal turned a pretty green as a result of the reaction between the two silver laden glasses.

Have a great day!

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2021 Color - Carefree Ltd Run

Carefree Ltd Run is another of the new streamer glasses offered this year by CiM - Creation Is Messy. Carefree is a clear glass base with green, purple, and blue streamers.

I have found that these streamer glasses are beautiful to work with and I enjoy making hollow beads with them.

These simple hollows are made with this glass and the streamers are seen faintly through the bead's circular sphere.

Definitely want to try this again with shoulder beads of a darker transparent or reduction silver glass.

Til next time.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2021 Color - Burnt Sugar Ltd Run

Burnt Sugar Ltd Run is a new 2021 CiM - Creation Is Messy is a rich transparent brown with caramel tones.
I experimented with Burnt Sugar two ways in my work with this new glass color.
First up, it is paired with Val Cox frit named Drama Cream.

These round beads have a simple sprinkling of the glass frit gently melted into the surface.

The single bead in the photo below has a roll of silver foil under the frit as I wanted to see the difference it would achieve. The spacer beads are made SOLD OUT CiM Baked Alaska Ltd Run. Transparent spacers are Burnt Sugar.

The set below also used a base of Burnt Sugar. Layered dots of a custom stringer mix of a CiM Streamer test glass (coded as 2020.10.29) with
Double Helix Hyperion were captured under clear Double Helix Zephyr portals.

Notice the swirls of silver glass magnified under the clear glass.

Dots of Double Helix Aurae were added and reduced. This fumed the base Burnt Sugar with a purple blue blush that is very pretty.

I definitely will be trying this combination of Burnt Sugar and silver glass again to see what I can achieve.

CiM - Creation Is Messy 2021 Colors - Reds - Vampire and Firecracker Ltd Runs

This blog post will introduce two new reds for 2021 from CiM - Creation Is Messy.

CiM has always had a wonderful palette of red shades and this year is no exception.
Check out the Red CiM palette here.
First up is CiM Vampire Ltd Run is an opaque red that I knew would work amazingly with Double Helix striking silver glass.

This set started with a base of Vampire.
Streams of Double Helix Terra 2 was struck and reduced, copper foil oak and dragonfly inclusions were added and each bead was encased in clear Double Helix Zephyr glass.

This set has a variety of round, barrel and flat tab bead shapes to complete a set of beads just waiting for the perfect jewelry design.

Vampire had not issues in melting and shaping and the colors that it presented with Terra 2 is glorious.

Another new red, Firecracker Ltd Run, is an opaque dark cherry red that has been remelted for 2021.
I have used it many times with silver glass and it really sings. CiM's website displays some of my previous beads if you are interested.

This time around I used Firecracker with Italian murrini to create some fun and bright round beads.

I added extra dots to each bead with CiM white Peace and yellow Schoolbus Ltd Run.
As in the past the glass melted beautifully and retained it's cherry red color after a quick striking.

A pleasure to work with.
