February Flashback - Digging into the CiM - Creation Is Messy Archives - Part 1

Over the next couple of weeks, I am digging into the CiM Archives to flashback on sets of beads made with colors that are listed as Sold Out on the CiM website, but I have checked availability of these glasses as In Stock on Nortel Glass' online shopping cart.

I am a bit of a "spreadsheet nerd", so I created a chart to cross reference what rare colors are still readily available from Jean & Jennifer at Nortel.
Why a chart?

I see so many "destash" groups on Facebook lately where our glassy colleagues are auctioning off larger quantities glass and in many cases the prices being paid are higher than simply purchasing the same glass from one our favourite distributors.

Nortel works so closely with our various glass creators that I really prefer to support them in order to keep our glass industry going!

In this first post, we are looking at glass pairings of CiM - Creation Is Messy with Double Helix silver glasses.
Each of these bead sets were featured in previous blog posts, so enjoy this stroll down memory lane.

This gleaming set is a base of one of my favorite glasses, CiM's Pink Champagne. In natural light, it is a rich pink. In other lighting, it can cast hues of a pinky purple.
In any light, it is simply gorgeous!

Shards and dots of Double Helix Aurae decorate these beads. Lots of variety in the shapes to allow for lots of art glass design options.

This gleaming set was created with a base of CiM's Sepia, a rich light brown amber.
Shards, swirls and dots of Double Helix Aurae decorate these beads. Lots of variety in the shapes to allow for lots of art glass design options.

This abundant 20 bead set was created with a new released color named Oz.
This rich green base by CiM is a true emerald green.

Hand pulled stringers of Double Helix Triton create the hand drawn scrollwork on each bead. The Triton was reduced to a glittery goodness of gold and silver blue.

This set of 9 goddess series beads were created on a base of CiM's emerald transparent glass, Oz, with layered dots of Effetre Dark Ivory and a mixture of silver glasses.

Double Helix's Kronos and Olympia Rain silver glasses creates the multicolored portals captured under each drop of clear glass.
Oz green transparent spacers (4) are included in this set.

In checking CiM's site just before posting this blog, I do see this glass is readily available and it is one of my favorites with silver glass. It is a fresh spring green that we need in the dead of winter!

On a base of CiM's Appletini, dots, scrolls and streams of Double Helix golden Aurae silver infused glass, decorate each round bead.

This glittering set of 10 beads was created with a base of CiM's Appletini transparent green glass on which hand drawn streams of Double Helix Aurae were added and reduced.
Each bead was then reduced to bring out the glorious metallic bling!

2015 Glass Testing - Round 1 -Welcome Back to the Pendragonfyre Tales Blog!

Where have I been since 2014?

Life got so busy that each burst of creativity was met with limited time at the torch.

As a result, few sets were made available or purchase to my online Pendragonfyre clients.

I wanted to start March off with a series of blog posts catching up on some of the Glass Diversions frit and CiM - Creation is Messy glass color tests that I have undertaken over the past few months.

Let's start with Round 1:

Glass Diversions Bollywood on CiM - Creation Is Messy Appletini

On a base of Effetre white with an encasement of CiM - Creation is Messy's Appletini, these beads were rolled in Glass Diversions frit named Bollywood.

Robin at Glass Diversions describes this frit as "A complex blend of jewel tones give this an elegant feel! Vivid colors paired with tart green".
I am looking forward to trying this frit with silver foil to see what other reactions I can create.

Pendragonfyre Frit on CiM - Creation is Messy Cobblestone

This set of 5 tapestry inspired round beads started with a base of CiM Cobblestone, an opaque gray that when wrapped with fine silver foil and rolled in Pendragonfyre blended frit, brings out hues of golds, green, blue and purple.

The dots of silver foil have rimmed the frit pools with a golden tint. This glass is very nice with silver foil and glass creating a unique tapestry in each bead.

Glass Diversions Glimmer Canyon on CiM - Creation Is Messy Marble and Trapeze

Using Robin Koza's tutorial on Multi-colored Striations, I created a frit stringer with Glimmer Canyon on a based on CiM - Creation is Messy Trapeze Ltd Run.

I wrapped the stringer over CiM's Marble Ltd Run and the striations appear in hues of royal and navy blue.

Glass Diversions Persian Paisley on Effetre Glasses

On a core of White Effetre, an encasement of Effetre Rose Quartz transparent was added. Rolled in Glass Diversions Persian Paisley frit, the beads were shaped into round beads with both opaque and transparent tones.

This frit is described as "This blend works nicely on the surface and also encased for different reactions. A fantastic blending of opaque colors with a few light transparent tones that when mixed together they create a complex blend. It contains a misting of sparkling gold and a reactive Iris Orange (Raku) which color-shifts when worked with Silver."
