New Storm Beads - Part 3

My Storm series continues over the next 2 blog posts. I enjoy creating these beads as each combination of silver glasses can surprise me when they emerge from the kiln the following morning.

Set 1
For this set of 9 Storm beads, I used Italian medium blue transparent as the base glass. Layers of ivory glass and several layers of Double Helix silver infused glasses were carefully added.

Each bead was encased in clear glass domes and dotted each bead with more silver infused glass and reduced it to a metallic shine.
Ten spacers of medium blue transparent are included in this set.

Set 2
For this set of 6 Storm beads, I used Italian #443 glass named Spanish Leather as the base glass. Layers of ivory glass and several layers of Double Helix silver infused glasses were carefully added.

Each bead was encased in clear glass domes and dotted each bead with more silver infused glass and reduced it to a metallic shine.

Four spacers of the red base glass are included in this set.

Testing A New Glass Frit - Glass Diversions Praline

I am working through all the new glass frits as part of my restock for 2024.
A new frit to me is Glass Diversions Praline. It is described as an earthy blend has wonderful browns, tan, rust, copper & gold tones.

I used a neutral CiM - Creation Is Messy's glass named Buttermilk as a base for this set of tile beads. This glass was a creamy opaque ivory with silver content. This glass is showing as SOLD OUT, but CiM's neutral palette has some other options.

I love the color patterns the glass frit created when I twisted each bead surface.

This is a lovely blend that I am looking forward to trying on other pastel glass bases in future!

Please check out Julie Miller's Glass Diversions website or her Etsy shop to try out her blends as they are truly lovely!

Green Tea and Kismet

This set of  lampwork round beads was created on a base of Italian Effetre glass named Green Tea, a light green pastel glass that I find has an aqua undertone.

Each bead was sprinkled with Glass Diversions Kismet glass frit blend.
This frit is a dramatic and fun blend with a burst of colors including aqua, amethyst, rose & several different greens.

I created twists in each bead to swirl and enhance the color streams and I am very happy with the end result.

Nortel Glass in Toronto is my Effetre supplier in Canada with quick shipping and most colors in stock and ready to ship to you.

Paisley Tapestry Inspired With An Unique Shape!

Glass Diversions describes their Persian Paisley frit as a fantastic blending of opaque colors with a few light transparent tones that when mixed together they create a complex blend. It contains a misting of sparkling gold and a reactive Iris Orange (Raku).

I have used this blend many years ago and realized that I needed to replenish my glass frit stash on my recent order.

On a base of CiM - Creation Is Messy's Linen, an opaque neutral beige, this frit was sprinkled and each bead shaped into a Zulu shape.

The combination of these glasses created a classic set of beads that remind me of vintage tapestry!

Although CiM Linen is showing as sold out, I invite you to check out CiM's other neutral glasses to pair with this lovely glass frit!

The Allure of Peach Pink Glass Beads: A Touch of Romance

In the world of glass bead-making, the fusion of color and transparency creates more than just jewelry components; it crafts a narrative.
This Peach Pink romance-inspired set of glass beads is a testament to this artistry.

Imagine the delicate dance of Val Cox Pink Lipstick glass frit over a base of Italian Effetre peach rose transparent glass

Each bead is a canvas where bursts of pinks unfold in patterns, evoking a muted romantic aura that's both timeless and contemporary.

The process of creating these beads is as fascinating as the beads themselves.
The Val Cox Pink Lipstick glass frit blend is known for its warm pink hues that only reveal their true peach-pink splendor after heating.
This transformative quality ensures that each bead is unique, carrying within it the secrets of its creation.

Reach out to Jean or Jennifer at Nortel to add some of these glasses

Wave, Currents and Twists in an Ocean Inspired Bead Set

I created this set of glass beads with Glass Diversions Indian Ocean glass frit twisted over a base of Italian Effetre white glass.

Bursts of blues and greens transparent and opaque glasses create an ocean inspired bead set.

This is such a simple design that focusses on the true beauty of this glass frit blend from Glass Diversions.

It has become a favourite of mine!

Parisian French Tarragon Glass Frit Cubes

With the current Olympics in Paris, I spent some time at my torch trying out some new glass frit and creating some hand shaped beads.

I think this set turned out very Parisian with an earthy fresh feel.

CiM - Creation Is Messy's Limelight is a light fresh green transparent glass on which I sprinkled Glass Diversions French Tarragon glass frit.

This blend is a smaller frit grind consisting of olive green, light blue and lime green glasses.

I hand-shaped each bead into a cube shape and I was so happy when these emerged from the kiln the following morning.
These would be lovely in a bracelet design.

The pale green crystals complete the set for a stunning finish.

Aladdin Magical Penny Candy Tiles

Today's post highlights a set of glass frit beads with multi-coloured patterns that reminds me of tiles of penny candy.

This blend is a magical blend of bright, cheery colors!

Glass frit is a wonderful addition to a bead maker's tool and supply box as it allows beads to be created in unique combinations of colors using mixes of crushed glass blended by hand.

Although the CiM website states that this pink pastel glass is sold out, Nortel Glass in Toronto is my glass supplier in Canada with quick shipping and many colors in stock and ready to ship to you.
