Tumbling Lampwork Glass Beads to Etch Them - Part 2 - A Few Etched Sets to Share

As part of my series on tumble etching beads, this post shares the final results of the tumble sessions.

Here we go!

Each set of beads starts with a core of Effetre White opaque glass with an encasement of the transparent glass. A sprinkling of my own Pendragonfyre frit blend creates the amazing patterning of colors.

The frit beads in this set were created with the encasement layer of rare CiM Blush, a transparent pink that shifts slightly depending on your lighting.

The frit beads in this set were created with the encasement layer of rare CiM Larkspur, a transparent color that shifts between blue and lavender depending on your lighting.

The frit beads in this set were created with the encasement layer of CiM Peridot, a transparent gemstone green transparent glass.

The frit beads in this set were created with the encasement layer of Effetre Pale Purple, a transparent purple glass.

Such a difference the etching makes. 

I have checked availability of each glass. Peridot, Larkspur and Effetre Pale Purple are In Stock on Nortel Glass' online shopping cart. 

Blush is not available.

Simple Rounds with Silvered Ivory Stringers!

On the post today, the focus is to show how silvered ivory stringer can be used in a variety of ways with both transparent and opaque glasses.

As I am learning more each studio session how my new kiln works, I have been using the sessions to make as many beads as possible to understand the value of having the larger kiln.
This past session, I created 88 beads in one sitting... which I think it the most for a day yet.
I will share the beads over the next couple of blog posts and hope you enjoy seeing them.

Today, the simple silvered ivory stinger stripe on transparent glasses.

On CiM - Creation Is Messy Larkspur, a transparent color that shifts between blue and lavender depending on your lighting. I definitely suggest you check out the photos on the CiM website to better understand how this glass changes color under sunlight, fluorescent and incandescent. It is quite cool.

 

 

The next two transparent are Effetre glasses that Nortel gifted me when I visited last month.

Effetre Light Aquamarine 034 - such a lovely sea inspired color!

 

The next Effetre color was coded on the Italian sticker as Amethyst but in checking online it appears to be named Pale Purple 046. It is a very pretty purple  transparent that I previously used for encasing over white in my Love Sonnet beads.

 

 All of these glasses are economical in price and powerful in their color saturation.

Romantic Love Sonnet Bead Sets for Spring!

The sun is shining and spring really does feel like it has arrived.
I wanted to share some beautiful beads in celebration of the glorious weather.

Starting on a base of Effetre white encased in CiM - Creation Is Messy Larkspur. 

Larkspur is a transparent glass that shifts between blue and lavender depending on your lighting.

A sprinkling of my hand mixed Pendragonfyre Love Sonnet frit was added and melted smooth to create these romantic beads. 

 

The spacer beads are included in this set are made with pure CiM Larkspur.

 

The CiM website shows Larkspur as sold out at this time, but I encourage you to seek out this color through distributors in case they have some in their back stock.

 

This second set also on a core of Effetre white encased in CiM - Creation Is Messy Peridot. Peridot is a pale transparent gemstone green. 

 

With the same  sprinkling of my Pendragonfyre Love Sonnet frit was added to create this set of beads.

 

The spacer beads are included in this set are made with pure CiM Peridot.

 

 

 Peridot is showing as currently available for sale through Nortel in Toronto.

February Flashback - Digging into the CiM - Creation Is Messy Archives - Part 4

More beautiful glass from the CiM Archives to flashback on sets of beads made with colors that are listed as Sold Out on the CiM website, but I have checked availability of these glasses as In Stock on Nortel Glass' online shopping cart.

 

On a base of CiM's Azure, a rich transparent blue, Double Helix Triton silver infused glass frit, decorate each round bead. Triton spacers are included in this set.

The glittering shine from these beads is amazing!

 

This shard bead set is a base of CiM Larkspur with Double Helix Aurae silver infused glass shards. CiM Larkspur is a transparent glass color that shifts between blue and lavender depending on your lighting.Love it for winter as it is rich and luxurious...
The Aurae shards cast golden, silver and copper tones within each reduced shard.

 

This set of goddess series beads were created on a base of CiM Grumpy Bear, an opaque periwinkle blue with layered dots of Effetre Dark Ivory and mixtures of Double Helix silver glasses and Catalyst ES-404. Highlights of Double Helix's silver glass, Ekho, create the bling dots for this set.

 

CiM Tardis is an opal blue that I paired with a basic frit and formed it into cubes.
It is a muted blue base and flowed beautifully as a great background for Valerie Cox’s Sunflower Fields artisan frit.

CiM Glass testing.... Always Fun to use new colors!

Just a quick post to show you some new CiM - Creation is Messy colors I have been testing!

All Sets in this Post have been SOLD

First up... CiM's Aloe Juice, a lovely transparent green.
These beads are a base of CiM Aloe Juice with streams of Double Helix silver glass, Aurae, resulting in shiny goodness!

Next up... CiM's Cake Batter. This color is so new, it is not on the CiM website yet!

Cake Batter is a creamy ivory. I paired it with Val Cox Painter's Series, Royal Ballet.  The result is a set of beads with pairings of  Raku with a chorus of pinks ranging from super soft to super intense.

This set is created on a base of CiM's Larkspur, a limited run that has been around for a bit.

It is a transparent color that shifts between blue and lavender depending on your lighting. These nuggets are Val Cox Rio Nights frit swirled among the Larkspur to create these beads.

Finally is a set of beads with one of my favorite CiM glasses that unfortunately is no longer in production, CiM's Butter Pecan.

It is a joy to work with its creamy consistency. It makes this Double Helix Terranova 2 frit pop!
