Watercolor Oval Tabs

This set of abstract oval tab beads was created on a based on CiM - Creation is Messy’s Portal Ltd Run, described as a delicate misty opal white.

These beads were decorated with handmade blue murrini chips and encased water color stringer streams.

The base glass seems to reflect the blues from the decorations and this set of beads would be lovely in a bracelet.

Although the CiM website shows this glass as sold out, Nortel in Toronto has it in stock and ready to order direct from their online shopping cart direct from here!

New CiM Color for Spring 2017 - Hemoglobin

A new red from CiM - Creation Is Messy
CiM over the past few years has introduced a number of new red limited runs. I have been fortunate to test them prior to their general release.

My fellow bead artists know how hard it is to get a reliable and beautiful red. Sangre has been my favorite out of all of the current glass palettes available. I always get a rich and glossy red that went into a set that was published in Bead Trends August 2010 magazine.

Here was the set called Heart of the Matador. See the full post here.

I was super excited to see the most recent one based on what was posted on the preview page.
"Hemoglobin is a mismelt of Sangre. It is very close to Sangre- many of our testers suggested we "pass" it. However, we know many artists use Sangre for production work. Based on the slight difference we are now calling this batch Hemoglobin.

We are offering Hemoglobin at a reduced price to Sangre"

Now on to Hemoglobin Ltd Run
I wanted to see if it worked with silver glass as well as Sangre did and below is a photo of some flat tab beads with Double Helix silver glass murrini and Triton dots. The color stayed a true red with no liver or browning. Definitely a keeper!

It is glossy, rich, and AWESOME! As noted above it is being offered as a limited run at a reduced price, so grab it while it lasts.

Til next time.

New CiM Color for Spring 2017 - Chartreuse

Spring is definitely on it's way and that means another new green from CiM - Creation Is Messy!

This post introduces Chartreuse.

CiM's Chartreuse is an interesting color that I have experimented with some silver glass to see if it mixes well without reaction.
In the photo below, you get a preview of the color in solid spacers. It is definitely a lime green opal glass. Bright and sunny!
The bump bead has silver glass dots encased in clear bumps to magnify the reaction.

These single beads were experiments with Double Helix silver glass murrinis that were melted in and swirled. No adverse reaction between the glass and Chartreuse base glass.

This last bead has lots of silver Double Helix glass swirled and worked into the base Chartreuse glass. The bead was bathed in a quick reduction flame to bring out the silver oil slick reaction.

New Bead Sets with a Spring focus!

Can you believe that it is almost March!  For my part of the world, that is like a faint light at the end of the winter tunnel.
March brings little longer days, and hopefully some mild weather to melt away all the accumulated snow.
Here in New Brunswick Canada, we broke the record for the most accumulated snow on record in February of any year! Last time I checked we were up to 120 cm and counting!!   For those of you not in the metric world, that is 47.2 inches!

We have run out of places to move the snow out of the driveway and many neighbours are shovelling the snow off their roofs due to the heavy weight bearing on their houses!

So March is my month to think positively and bring on the sunshine and spring! The bead sets in this post are the start of my spring!

I have been playing with some silver infused murrini from Double Helix this week... and here are a couple of the groovy test beads!

These two below are on a base of CiM's blue opal, Electric Avenue.

This one is a big encased bead on a base of Double Helix Terra 2, looks like a big marble!
