Silvered Stringer - More Than Just for Ivory!

Happy Friday!

As I posted back last Friday, I enjoy creating beads with silvered ivory stringer.

Today's post, I have one more set to share as well as 2 new bead sets using a variation of silvered stringer.

I created the coral silvered stringer using CiM - Creation Is Messy's Phoenix glass and silver foil. These stringers are created in the same way as the ivory ones.

Silvered stringer gives beads a gorgeous organic look to them. Silvered coral on its own “webs” or “curdles” giving it a beautiful organic look.

Here are today's bead sets each created with CiM - Creation Is Messy glasses currently available to order.

On a base of CiM's Canoe Ltd Run simply decorated with silvered ivory stringer dots. These would be great with an etched surface for a faux stone finish and tactile feel.

 

 

Silvered coral stringer on CiM's Poi, an opaque grey toned purple. 

 

Smurfy, CiM's opaque turquoise blue is the base of this set of beads on which the Phoenix silvered stringer decorations are abundant in dots, streams and swirls.

February Flashback - More Favorite CiM - Creation Is Messy colors!

CiM's Canoe Ltd Run is an opaque silver brown that changes tone as it is worked in the flame. This can create blushes of russet and red brown in the final beads. As shown in the photo below, each bead was wrapped with silver wire and the result was clean with no reactions.
It melted easily with no shockiness.

 

This mini set of Silvertrail beads were created on a base of CiM Peace, a pure white opaque glass. By wrapping 99% Fine Silver Wire around it bead, a reaction occurred to
fume a golden glow to the wire at the points were it adhered to the white glass.

This glittering set of beads was created with a base of CiM's Poison Apple green glass on which Double Helix Aurae Light was streamed with handmade threadlike stringers.
Each bead was then reduced to bring out the glorious metallic bling!

This glittering set of beads was created with a base of CiM's Halong Bay, a blue moonstone, on which Double Helix silver glass, Aurae frit was added and reduced to glittery goodness!

This set of 11 goddess series beads was created on a base of CiM's Marigold opaque glass. Each goddess bead was then layered with dots of Effetre Dark Ivory and a mixture of CiM's Hades and TAG Golden Emerald silver infused glasses.
The combination of the glasses create delicate storms captured under each clear glass portal. Double Helix OK 381, complete the metallic highlight droplets on each bead. Marigold spacer beads complete this set.

Torch Session - Revisiting CiM Colors - The Brown Palette

CiM - Creation Is Messy’s extensive list of colors to a new beadmaker may seem overwhelming. Beautiful colors with amazingly creative names.

The best resource to seem some time getting to know the color ranges is the CiM website.
Kathy’s organization by hue palette has allowed me to mix and match color families easily.
Over the next few weeks, I will be testing  new colors and revisiting some that deserve a second look.

Today’s post are beads from the Brown Palette

CiM's Indian Summer Ltd Run is a transparent brown that strikes to a rich color. In the middle bead below I simply wrapped some 99% fine silver wire and the glass color stayed true with no adverse fuming or color change in comparison to the spacers.

CiM's Velveteen Ltd Run is a creamy white opal. The true color of the glass is shown in the spacer beads below. The focal bead was created with a base of Velveteen with a layer of silver foil and rolled in Glass Diversions Coffee Bean frit.

Another opal brown is CiM's Allspice Ltd Run. This glass is a deeper in brown tones but is glorious when paired with silver glass. The spacers in the photo below are CiM Allspice. The focal barrel bead was created with one half of Allspice with fine Aurae silver glass frit and the other end is CiM's Indian Summer Ltd Run.

The photo below is another look at CiM's Allspice Ltd Run in plain spacers. This opal brown is classic and rich.



Both CiM's Allspice Ltd Run and CiM's Velveteen Ltd Run are showing as "sold out" in the CiM color archives. You may be able to locate some through distributors like Nortel. Reach out to Jean if you are interested in exploring this color.

New CiM Colors for Fall 2017 - Autumn Earth Tones

In the latest selection of new CiM - Creation is Messy colors, there are several earth tone hues.

This set uses the combinations in line wrapped round beads and demonstrates the crispness of the glass in each stringer.

Each of these colors are Limited Runs so snatch them up quickly.

CiM Monarch and CiM Harvest - both opaque oranges
CiM Buttermilk - an opaque pale yellow
CiM Canoe - an opaque silver brown

Each of these colors flowed easily with no shockiness or bleeding. 
Great option for autumn inspired jewelry creations.

This photo provides a closer look at the colors in the solid spacer beads.

I had a bit of glass left over from making this set, so I created a few necklace beads with the glasses.
