Summer is officially here!

It is amazing how great it is to take a weekend and just relax. It is the best therapy sometimes for a creative block. 

This past week was my "therapy session" spent at a cottage with no internet access. It forced me to just relax and let my mind wander from the busy work week and the "off to the studio" weekends. 

The pace of balancing both a day-job and making beads for Pendragonfyre fans can drain one's batteries without a "recharge break".

I am glad to say that it was definitely worth it (thanks Bernie!) and I am starting to work on some new sets this week, so stay tuned to this blog!

Our Love
Limited Edition #1

This bead set is set #1 of 2 Our Love bead sets that was published in the national magazine, Bead Trends - March 2010 issue.

Materials: Effetre Glass and Double Helix Glasses

Starting with an inner core of Effetre Pastel Ink Blue Purple, the four focal barrel beads of this set were generously sprinkled with a custom blend of Double Helix silver infused frit. After reducing the beads to bring out the beautiful colors of blue and purple, each bead was encased in Effetre clear to capture the opal-like shine of the silver glass and was shaped into the round barrel shape.
To bring out the true bling of these beads, hand-drawn dots of Triton silver glass were scattered on these beads and reduced to bring the golden shine to the surface.

Materials: Bullseye Glasses

Set of 7 floral beads - Hole Size: 1.5mm (1/16 mandrel)

Base: Bullseye Rhubarb Pastel
Floral decorations created with: Bullseye Light Fuschia, Spring Green & White Pastel

Love Affair
Love Sonnet Series #16

Materials: CiM - Creation is Messy Glass and Mixed Raku Glass Frit

Starting on a base of CiM Plum Unique#3, handmixed Pendragonfyre Love Sonnet frit including Gaffer and Raku was sprinkled to create these 13 romantic round and lentil shaped beads. Perfect for the spring and summer season!
Four spacer beads are included in this set.

Heavenly Shards

Materials: CiM- Creation is Messy and Double Helix Glasses

This mini set of 7 shard beads were created on a base of not yet released CiM Marble Limited Run. Handmade shards of Aurae were added and reduced to bring the shine to the surface.

I was fortunate to receive 2 rods for testing from CiM and I can't wait to purchase this when it is introduced this summer.
This glass is a milky white in the rod that turns a marble-like white after emerging from the kiln. The Aurae silver glass gently fumes the Marble to an antiqued golden hue
and brings out a slight pinky glow to the shards.

Watercolor Focals#3

Materials: Effetre and Double Helix Glasses

This is the 3rd and final set in this series

This set of 5 hand-formed flat beads were created on a base of Effetre clear glass on which a custom mix of Double Helix silver glass frit was sprinkled.
This mixture of Gaia, Triton, Psyche and Kronos were reduced and encased under clear glass to allow the pattern to seem to blow like petals in the wind.

Crème Caramel
Silverdrops Series

Materials: CiM- Creation is Messy and Double Helix Glasses

This set of 10 Silverdrop beads were created on a base of very rare CiM Pumpkin Unique #1. This glass resembles the color of the top layer of a great Crème Caramel !!

Dots of Aurae were added and reduced to bring the shine to the surface.
Four spacer beads are included in this set.

Summer 2011 Goddess Orphans

Materials: Effetre, CiM, Double Helix, TAG & Precision Glasses

This abundant 21 bead set is an eclectic assortment of various Goddess Beads beads. The uniqueness of each goddess bead allows the designer to create a truly one of a kind piece of precious glass jewelry.

Each bead uses an base of Effetre or CiM glass with portals of silver infused glass encased in clear to capture the richness of each silver droplet.

I logged into Facebook today to find the Sneak Peek for next months Bead Trends magazine was posted. I was so surprised and excited to see that my bracelet was featured in the video.

Bead Trends January Issue and sets for this week

I wanted to share with you my latest published design that is currently appearing in the January 2011 Bead Trends magazine.

This design is a bracelet of natural crystal stones and handmade lampwork beads. The beads were etched to create an icy feel. These stones and beads were coordinated with silver beads whose icy etched designs added even more of a wintry feel.

This design also created an extension that when added to the bracelet converts it into a focal necklace.
This would be beautiful for the winter bride using the necklace for the bridal gown at the ceremony. The bracelet could then be worn again by the bride to remind her of her amazing day!

On Artfire this week, Moonlight Sonata.

These were recreations of my bead designs that were published in the September 2010 issue of Bead Trends Magazine!

The original set of beads has been reserved for purchase by a client, so based on a number of requests for additional sets the 2 below are offered.

Moonlight Sonata
Materials: CiM, Effetre and Double Helix Glasses

Starting with an inner core of CiM Hades, a darkest black opaque glass, these beads were generously sprinkled with a custom blend of Double Helix silver infused frit.
After reducing the beads to bring out the beautiful colors of blue and green, each bead was encased in Effetre clear to capture the opal-like shine of the silver glass and was shaped into the flat tab shape.
To bring out the true bling of these beads, hand-drawn dots were scattered on these beads and reduced to bring the golden shine to the surface. 

Set #2 has 7 flat tab beads measuring 17mm to 22mm

 

Set #3 has larger beads for those looking for sizes measuring 21mm to 24mm

Moonlight Sonata- Bead Trends Original Set

This bead set is the original set that was published in the national magazine, Bead Trends - September 2010 issue.
In the magazine, these 7 beads were fashioned into a bracelet, along with light beige faceted crystal spacers and a simple Sterling silver toggle clasp.
The purchaser has the choice of using the bracelet as it was designed, or refashioning the beads into their own creation.

November 2010 Issue of Bead Trends!

I have been very fortunate to be published again this month in Bead Trends (my designs have been 7 issues in 2010 so far) and I love how they displayed my beads and bracelet design! If you haven't checked out this magazine, click here for their blog!

Here is the details on the beads:
Starting with a base of CiM Adamantium, a warm grey brown opaque glass, Double Helix silver infused murrini were placed on both back and front of each flat tab bead.
Double Helix Triton were added to create the dotted pattern on each bead and reduced to bring the shine to the surface.
The spacers are also Triton, so the bling is WOW!!

My napkin chains are in Bead Trends October 2010 issue!

I have been fortunate enough to be published again in October 2010's issue of Bead Trends. This design for holiday napkin chains came to me when I was shopping for unique chain links for another project. I think they turned out to be unique and special! The holidays are just around the corner!

I am so excited to share with you that my beads have been featured again in Bead Trends magazine for the issues in both August and September 2010.
Below are the sneak peeks of the issues..

August 2010 Issue - Heart of the Matador

In Jill O'Flannery art print named El Matador, the hues of gold and red capture the heart of Spain. The cape of deep red and the golden glitter of his armour-like costume immediately made me want to create this set of beads.

This large set of 15 beads was created with a base of rich shade of red glass by CiM named Sangre. Hand pulled stringers and shards of Double Helix Aurae, silver infused glass, create the dots that decorate the focal heart bead and highlight the beads in this set.

September 2010 Issue: Plaited Azure Earrings

This set of earrings feature my lampwork beads coordinated with Swarovski crystals on a textured earring findings.

Each bead was hand-formed from deep violet transparent base glass decorated with Double Helix's Psyche, silver infused glass, carefully cut and encased under clear glass to capture the iridescence of hues of blues perfect for September..


Also in the September 2010 Issue: Moonlight Sonata

This bracelet was created with 7 handmade lampwork flat tabs coordinated with champagne crystals and Sterling Silver toggle.

Each bead was hand-formed from CiM's Charcoal, a darkest grey transparent base glass decorated with silver infused glass, encased under clear glass to capture the iridescence of hues of blue and green. Hand pulled stringers and shards of Double Helix Aurae, silver infused glass, create the surface text that was then reduced to bring out the glittery goodness!

Toronto trip starts today!

Well, I am on a business|relaxation trip to the Toronto area. Lots of stuff planned, so I thought I would post a note to let you know a couple of fun things that are happening this week!

First, check out Bead Trends online blog at: click here. My earring designs with handmade beads made the Photographer's Favorites for the July issue!

I receive lots of requests for these beads as they are perfect for summer earrings and jewelry pieces, so be watching for those to start appearing at my Artfire site by end of July. If you have specific colors that you are looking for, certainly contact me through the Artfire site.

Tonight, I head to a charity event at Casino Rama.


A concert for Sidewalk Angels Foundation, An Evening with Rob Thomas. I am excited to be a part of this special night as this will be an intimate acoustic evening! This is the only Canadian date planned so far for 2010.

I will try and post photos after the event but here is a fun photo of Rob, just to make you smile!


Although I am on the road, there will still be new items posted on E-bay for my Sunday night auctions. I have been busy over the weeks prior to this trip, and I have all my bead sets with me, so I will be continue to ship our our items from the nearest Canada Post outlet!

This weekend, there will be:

• Two goddess series sets
• Two of the popular Silvertrails series... Keep an eye out for a set named Fire!
• A surprise or 2!
• And of course, it is the weekend for the latest Bead Orphans from the past month!
