Mid April Break

Life has gotten so busy this month, that there has been little time to be at the torch over the past few weeks.
My daytime work is ramping up to a full weekend team event towards the end of the month, so it means being on the road and not in a regular "bead creation" routine until early May.
In the meantime, I have just a few sets to share over the next couple of blog posts.

Goddess Bead Series #121
"Greek myth name of the wife of Zeus. Her Roman name Juno means "vital force.""

Materials: CiM - Creation is Messy, Effetre and Double Helix Glasses

This set of 7 goddess series beads was created on a base of deep purple Effetre Purple Vinaccia glass. Each goddess bead was then layered  with dots of Effetre Dark Ivory, CiM's rare Black Currant, DH silver infused glasses RE-391 catalyst and Psyche. The combination of the glasses create the multi-hued portals captured under each clear glass dot. Double Helix Triton completes the metallic highlight droplets on each bead.



Purple Blue Silver Orbs
Materials:  Double Helix and Effetre Glasses and 99% Fine Silver

This set of 12 encased round beads were created on a base of Double Helix's rare Psyche Light. This glass starts as a purple transparent, but when each bead core was wrapped in 99% fine silver wire and reduced to create the dramatic hues of blues, creams and purples. The silver wire when heated has created the droplets of silver captured under the thick encasement of Effetre clear glass.

Etched Lavendar Garden
Materials: Effetre Glasses

Starting with a base of Effetre Pale Lavendar, these 17 beads were sprinkled with my own hand blended glass frit to create this Lavendar Garden inspired set of beads.

Dotted Classic Lentils
Materials:  Effetre Glasses

This set of 11 lentil beads are Classic Dotted beads! Effetre Cobalt Blue is dotted on Effetre White base glass. 12 cobalt spacers complete this set perfect for summer jewelry designs!

Venus

Goddess Bead Series #118

Materials: CiM - Creation is Messy, Effetre and Double Helix Glasses

This set of 11 goddess series beads was created on a base of CiM's Marble Ltd Run opaque glass. Each goddess bead was then layered with dots of Effetre Dark Ivory, White Pastel and DH silver infused glasses, Clio and Kalypso. The combination of the glasses create the multi-hued portals captured under each clear glass dot. Double Helix Helios completes the metallic highlight droplets on each bead.

Classic Dotted Rounds
Materials: CiM - Creation is Messy and Effetre Glasses

This set of 15 beads are Classic Dotted beads! CiM's Cornflower, an opaque cobalt blue, with scattered dots of Effetre opaque white glass.

Spring Crocus Rounds
Materials:  CiM - Creation is Messy Glass

This set of 18 beads are perfect for Spring 2012. The base glass, CiM's Crocus Unique #2 creates striated patterns which are  much lighter and slightly pink than regular purple opal Crocus.



Curry Rounds
Materials:  Effetre Glasses

This set of 16 beads are striking with  striated patterns in spicy shades of curry, tumeric and dark mustard.

This abundant set of 46 Silvertrail round beads is a mix of various base glasses wrapped with 99% Fine Silver Wire.

New Friday Blog Series - "Inspired By"

All of us, at times, find ourselves looking for inspiration. That "muse" we seek as artisans sometimes seems to wander a bit too far from us. This week has been "one of those times" in which based on the presssures, of the outside world, can cause each one of us to refocus on why we are artists in the first place.

I sat in my studio surrounded by 100's of glass rods waiting for that "inspired" moment where a palette of colors would magically come together. Normally that is how I work. I never plan to make specific beads in each studio session, but rather channel the muse instead.

Since I received CiM's unique rods to try, I have wanted to create special sets to show off both the beauty of the colors as well as the compatiability of the colours within a color palette itself.

I subscribe to a number of non-bead blogs, from cooking, photography and even a bridal blog. You may ask why a bridal blog, having been married for over 10 years. This particular blog is more than just a site for brides... it is truly an inspirational site for those who design and create.

It is simply known as The Inspired Bride by blogger Maddy (Susser) Hague.
